The Kingdom of Valendor is the largest human population on Tymora, a vast and prosperous realm where diversity and unity exist in a delicate balance. It is said to be the homeland of the first humans on Carcer. As one of the most advanced and thriving civilizations on the continent, Valendor owes its success to its fertile fields, abundant natural resources, and innovative spirit. These advantages have propelled the kingdom to unparalleled heights, allowing its people to enjoy prosperity unmatched by any other human society.

However, not all Valendor’s citizens have embraced this progress. While many regions have welcomed change and technological advancement with open arms, there remain enclaves of staunch traditionalists who cling to the old ways. This tension between tradition and innovation creates a dynamic and often contentious social landscape.

The kingdom’s political structure revolves around a network of semi-autonomous duchies. Each duchy is led by a powerful duke or duchess whose authority is symbolized by their bond with a majestic dragon. These dragons are far more than mere beasts; they are revered as living embodiments of power, unity, and cultural identity. Their presence is deeply woven into Valendor’s military, mythology, and everyday life, making them central to the kingdom’s character and legacy.

The Duchies

The Kingdom of Valendor is a land of breathtaking diversity, stretching across a wide array of terrains that shape its culture, economy, and daily life. From the frozen reaches of Skargmir in the north to the imposing Dragonspire Mountains in the south, Valendor’s geography is varied and majestic. The kingdom is bordered by the Grass Sea and the Plain of Bones to the west and boasts an extensive eastern coastline, where bustling ports connect Valendor to the rest of the world. Its vast landscapes include fertile valleys, rugged mountain ranges, and mystical forests teeming with life.

The Kingdom is divided into 9 separate regions, 8 are ruled by the Dukes and Duchesses with the 9th being the capital city and surrounding lands which are ruled directly by the King. Each dutchie has a capital city which is the reigning Dukes permanent home.

Auravell, the radiant heart of Valendor, stands as a testament to the kingdom’s unity, power, and ambition. Nestled between two vast rivers fed by the mountains surrounding the sacred Well of Life, this grand city is both a beacon of tradition and a hub of progress. Governed by King Aldemar III, the Clockwork Sovereign, Auravell thrives under his visionary leadership, seamlessly blending ancient magic and mechanical innovation to shape the future of Valendor.

Iceveil is the harsh, unforgiving northern region of Valendor, defined by its icy tundras, towering glaciers, and perilous snowfields. It is a land of stark beauty and relentless survival, where only the most resilient thrive. This region is steeped in mysticism, with its icy expanses holding ancient secrets and powerful elemental forces.

Highwall is a majestic duchy known for its towering red cliffs and long eastern coastline. Its capital, Starhaven, is set high on the cliffs and serves as a center for magical learning and innovation. Other settlements like Windspire and Cliffton add to Highwall's blend of natural beauty and human creativity, making it a key part of Valendor.

Driftmire is a land of swamps, rivers, and misty coastlines, shaped by the ever-changing tides. As Valendor’s main naval hub, it thrives on fishing, shipbuilding, and maritime trade. Travel by land is difficult, but its people have mastered the waterways, building stilted settlements and floating docks to adapt to their environment.

Verdantmere is the fertile heart of Valendor, a land of rolling fields, dense woodlands, and bountiful rivers. Known as the kingdom’s breadbasket, it provides the majority of Valendor’s agricultural produce, including grains, fruits, textiles, and medicinal herbs. The duchy thrives on its strong connection to the land, where farmers, druids, and craftsmen work in harmony with nature to ensure prosperity for future generations.

Emberholme is a land of volcanic fire, ambition, and unyielding resilience. Located between Iceveil and Verdantmere, this duchy thrives amid craggy mountains, lava flows, and geothermal springs, making it one of the most visually striking and resource-rich regions in the kingdom. The people of Emberholme are passionate, bold, and fiercely independent, mirroring the untamed nature of the land they call home.

Goldspire is the wealthiest and most influential duchy in Valendor, a land of golden palaces, thriving commerce, and immense rivers that serve as the lifeblood of trade. It is a duchy where wealth is power, and its people believe prosperity must be guarded as fiercely as any kingdom’s borders. The region is a hub of banking, trade, and luxury craftsmanship, making it the financial heart of Valendor.

Shadowfell is Valendor’s enigmatic borderland, a realm of deep forests, veiled valleys, and hidden strongholds. Named for the ever-present shadows of its forests and the towering Dragonspire Mountains, it is a land of secrets, deception, and silent warfare. Unlike the grand cities of Goldspire or the military might of Ironkeep, Shadowfell thrives in the unseen spaces of Valendor, ensuring that the kingdom’s enemies are neutralized before they even realize they have been watched. Shadowfell is not merely a duchy, it is Valendor’s unseen shield, waging a never-ending shadow war against threats from within and beyond.

Ironkeep is the military backbone of Valendor, a land where discipline, strategy, and unwavering loyalty define its people. Known for training the kingdom’s most elite soldiers and crafting near-impenetrable fortifications, Ironkeep stands as a bastion of strength and tradition, ensuring that Valendor remains secure from threats both within and beyond its borders.
